I dunno… “They Call Her One-Eye” is a pretty stupid alternate title, but it does give it the feel of an old-school western. Doesn’t really fit, but it has a certain hookey charm.
It’s odd, none of the titles really feel appropriate to the movie. Thriller is the best of the bunch but it’s not really a “thriller”. They call her one eye would have made sense if this was a western or if they made some sort of reference to it in the movie. Hookers Revenge sounds like it would be the alternate title to Avenging Angel.
Sadly, “Hooker’s Revenge” is probably the best of the lot, as terrible as it is. I mean, she was a hooker and she did get revenge. It also invokes a suitably exploitation theme, and is perfect for a grindhouse flick. It’s just too bad that it sounds so stupid.
Then again, I suppose “Death Wish” is a pretty goofy name too if you look at it in isolation.
It is the one that is closest to what the actual film is about but it just sounds so shallow. If it was a bit more over the top like a lot of exploitation then it probably would work better. As it is, the whole movie has this sad quality to it that the title just doesn’t fit.
I don’t think Death Wish sounds all that bad but I guess I’m just used to hearing it. Speaking of odd titles I have one coming up later in the year that takes the cake for WTF movie titles.
